High School FIRST Robotics Team Qualifies For National Championship Competition

Maryknoll Marketing & Communications
On Saturday, March 30th, our high school FIRST Robotics Team qualified for the FIRST Robotics National Championship Competition in Houston, TX. The regional qualifying tournament consisted of 34 teams from schools around the state and several international teams from Asia.
In the regional competition, our Maryknoll team was chosen during the draft by the 2nd seed team (Raid Zero from Taipei) as their third alliance partner (along with Blue Thunder from Maui High) for the final elimination bracket.  With their alliance, our team made it through the 8-team bracket to the finals and qualified for a “wild card” slot to participate in the national competition.

Our robotics team is quickly making travel plans, to attend the championship.  As FIRST is all about collaboration and cooperation between programs and community, the team and it's advisor, Dr. Aaron Tamura-Sato, would would like to express their appreciation and thank in their championship planning from the robotics teams at Kalani High School, Punahou School, Damien Memorial School, and generous monetary support from McDonalds of Hawaii and the Department of Defense.

Be sure to check our website and social media channels for updates as the team travels to Houston for the championship! Way to go Spartans!
